January Newsletter 2009

Hi, Hello and A Happy New Year! 

Well were all going to be a year older this year and that’s cool! 

In a few weeks we will be sending out a PDF catalogue with a complete discography, pics, notes and links to bring everyone around the world up to date with what CPML has done so far and what we are going to do this year and beyond. 

Despite my Scottish ancestry there will be a few free MP3’s, giveaways etc… so watch this space. 

2009 will be a transitional year for me and my immediate focus is on a very small, informal gig that is happening on January 18^th in Christchurch New Zealand. The main aim of the gig, which is one hour, is to test the water with my one man show tentatively titled ‘Live Guitar’. In the show I use studio backing tracks which I play on and perform a mix of my seven albums currently available worldwide on iTunes, Amplifier and digiRAMA. Check out the links at the top of this page. 

As well as the sites currently stocking my tracks I will be releasing my albums through Amazon, hopefully quite early this year, which should get my music to a wider audience which will be very cool. 

In 2007 my company, CPML, was set up with the sole purpose of being a new music label specializing in the digital music market. Although I’d ‘never say never’, regarding the manufacturing of hard copy CD’s, I think the growing online audience is a strong indication that the music industry is indeed changing to meet the needs of what is a digitally global market. 

Once I have tested the water with the January gig I will resume work on my eighth album, which currently has a working title, and about 9 rhythm tracks down. I am undecided if the album will be all covers or part covers with some original material. Time will tell I guess and that’s the great thing about being a writer / musician… Freedom! 

So, 2008 started with a bang with ‘Beautiful Night – Craig plays McCartney’ and finished with the fun ‘quickie’ album ‘Craig plays The Shadows’. We also featured three original albums ‘Rockin’ On A Level Surface’, ‘Wanderlust’ and ‘Love In A Changing World’ all of which covered various genres and styles including Contemporary Rock, Jazz, Latin and Quasi- Classical. 

The new album will probably take a while longer to complete, although you never can tell, but I think the final outcome will be another step in the musical journey we are on together and I am lucky to have such great ‘travel buddies’ as you are. You are all much appreciated thank you! 

I hope this year is a positive one for all people and look forward to following the creative path you all have helped pave over the past couple of years.
